Vasoptic Medical, Inc. is a technology-based medical device company that has pioneered optical imaging technology for noninvasive monitoring and visualization of tissue blood flow data. Vasoptic was founded in 2012 by Abhishek Rege and M. Jason Brooke to improve the practice of medicine by making advanced data and relevant insights available to medical professionals at point of care. Vasoptic started its journey by focusing on dynamic blood flow information that can complement structural and anatomical observations and add a physiological perspective to clinical decision making. At the core is an optical imaging technology initially developed by Abhishek at the Department of Biomedical Engineering of Johns Hopkins University within the Neuroengineering and Biomedical Instrumentation Lab led by Dr. Nitish Thakor. Today, with the help of many collaborators and supporters, we are proud to have truly advanced the state of blood flow monitoring tools available to the medical and academic communities.
Team and Support
Here at Vasoptic, we are a tightly knit well-rounded team of problem solvers led by Dr. Abhishek Rege and advised by various experts in healthcare, academia, and industry. We are all driven by a shared passion for technology and its application to healthcare, and in conjunction with our collaborators in academic and research institutions, work to design, develop, and validate imaging tools for use in the clinic and for research. Our company culture thrives on individuals loving what they do, and offering one another mutual respect, support, openness, and access to amplify our collective productivity. We have been supported by resources from the Maryland Innovation Center and grants from the National Institutes of Health, Wallace H. Coulter Foundation, Maryland Industrial Partnerships, and private investment from the Abell Foundation, Maryland TEDCO, and angel investors.
